DISASTER,  FEAR OR THE POWER OF GOD

DISASTER,  FEAR OR THE POWER OF GOD

9=11 our visa was up for renewal to remain in the USA, yet the lawyer didn’t even have enough courage to call, just a certified letter in the mail “your visa renewals have been denied, you must leave the USA by December 30, 2001” and so our dream came to crashing end. No, we were not illegal, or criminal or any other danger to the country, we were very good corporate and individuals building the “American Dream” but 9-11 changed that, a technicality with the visa and out we must go. Businesses lost, ministry lost, home lost, we had arrived in the US pretty well off, not so much leaving, this was a disaster.

We moved to Penticton, BC in Canada, to begin anew, in 2002 a fire swept through the Okanagan destroying more than 500 homes, displacing so many families, and ruining their lives, disaster struck.

Every person throughout their lives will face some kind of disaster, what that may be to one may be quite different to another, but a disaster is still a disaster.  The question is what does one do in the midst of the disaster? Is God to blame, for He surely gets the blame. So really who is to blame, a tornado, hurricane, fire, earthquake or some other crushing force.

John 10:10  King James Version (KJV) “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” Here we have the classic battle, Satan brings death and destruction, Jesus brings life and liberty, it matters not the form the disaster may come in, the fact is it comes to bring destruction, when it comes it is our action that will determine whether we are crushed by it or we come through in victory.

We did our part, during those fires, we organized help in any manner we could for the families, had 60 restaurants donate an entire days sales to the Red Cross, held a celebrity evening with dinner, entertainment and a auction featuring Canadian stars Ronnie & Glory-Ann Prophet, with artwork donated by Will Enns and others.

Every disaster brings two things,  destruction and fear. The disaster is an event, it will pass, fear however is a choice, don’t choose it.

Pick up faith in the middle of a disaster, Satan wants to crush you, God wants to lift you. 2 Corinthians 1:20 King James Version (KJV) “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” Whatever you may be facing in your, daily living, heavy burdens or a disaster, turn to the promises of God for in them you will find the answer that you require.

It’s not a hard thing to find those promises, the bible list’s some 5467 promises that God will complete. Some are completed and ready to use, some are just for you and there as you need them. Put on the armour of God in your daily living, Satan doesn’t know who is within that armour, is it you. Or, is it God, he will think twice regarding attacking. Our weapons that we make use of, is that of the “armour of God Ephesians 6:10-17 King James Version (KJV) “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” Upon careful examination of the armour reveals that all parts of it are made up by the Word of God. This armour is both defensive and offensive.

The helmet, covers and protects the head.

The girdle, supported all the other parts, to it were attached the daggers, swords, and other weapons.

The breastplate, had two parts, one covered the front and the other the back. It hung down to the knees to offer protection to that part of the body.

The feet shod, were boots of brass or bronze, used to protect and to crush.

The Shield, protects the body and interlocked so that it protects others as well.

The scripture says that with these we stand against the “wiles” this word means, methods, plans and schemes of the devil that he uses to entrap, deceive, enslave and ruin the souls of men.

The soul is the area that the enemy seeks to control. The soul is made up of the mind, will and the emotions, these are what the enemy seeks to bring into bondage.

Once our weapons are in full use, then we begin to develop them in conquering the enemy, this then becomes our testimony. Your testimony is always what the Lord has done on your behalf. Every time you speak it, you are reminding the devil of his loss at the hands of Jesus through the power that is within you.

The word of your testimony is Jesus Himself. John 15:5-8 King James Version (KJV) “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. 6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. 8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.Jesus’ words flowing from your mouth with the power that we just spoke because of your taking your stand or living within Him.”

Satan cannot stand to hear the name of Jesus spoken by someone who knows who they are in Jesus. This is the reason that he has perverted Jesus’ name into profanity. Yet the profane person once saved can use the same name and bring great destruction in the realm of the devil. Ephesians 1:21 King James Version (KJV) Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:” Every disaster, problem  or attack has a name, every name is subject to the power in the name of Jesus. Nothing can withstand that name when spoken in faith.

We must keep in mind that Satan just waits for an opportunity for us to slip. When we do he seeks to take out his revenge upon us. Our testimony must be that God will protect, preserve and deliver us from the onslaught of the enemy. Jeremiah 20:10-11 King James Version (KJV) “For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, say they, and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, saying, Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him. 11 But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.” We have this confidence in our God toward Satan, his plans and his bondages:

  1. A) The Lord is with us as a mighty terrible one to our bondage. Keep in mind the results of disaster can hold us in some form of bondage for years (if we ever recover) but for Lord.
  2. B) Our persecutors will stumble. Psalm 27:1 King James Version (KJV) “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”
  3. C) They will not prevail. Isaiah 41:13 King James Version (KJV) “For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.”
  4. D) They will be greatly ashamed. Jeremiah 20:11 King James Version (KJV) “But the Lord is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.”
  5. E) They will not prosper. (See D above)
  6. F) They have everlasting confusion, which will never be forgotten, in others words, is an everlasting reminder of their defeat. (See D above)
  7. G) The Lord tries the righteous and see’s the reins and the heart. (God will investigate the cause and see the very truth of the spirit and how the heart stands. Whether in faith or in unbelief.
  8. H) Then He brings His vengeance upon the enemy and freedom for us. Isaiah 59:17 King James Version (KJV) “For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.”

Now you are dressed for the battle, and yes, there will be a battle, so keep in mind what God said to Joshua about the fight, Joshua 10:25 King James Version (KJV) “And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.” You cannot be defeat if  you use the weapons of warfare 2 Corinthians 10:4 King James Version (KJV) “ (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” Paul even told us the outcome, 1 Timothy 6:12 King James Version (KJV) “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” What kind of fight, a good fight, so whats a good fight? The one you do not lose. With the promises of God, you cannot lose.

While you place the word of God in your mouth you begin to take shape in your spirit and you soon see who you really are, so that you may stand and say, “I am”.

If there was ever any confusion as to who you are, let it be put to rest now. Look for the next writing when we get into the very promises that God has given us to defeat every area in life the is not in line with the Word of God and who you are in Christ.

ALL THE PROMISES

We stated in the pervious writing that there are more than 5400 promises of God listed in scripture, every one is true, everyone is a fact, everyone God will fulfil. Have no doubt what God says, He does, why?  Hebrews 6:18-19 King James Version (KJV) “That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: 19 Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;” Did you know that this is the only thing that is impossible to God, that is to lie, why? Good question, He has created everything in heaven, earth and under the earth, so why would something as simple as lie, be impossible for Him, because, everything He says, every word of His mouth, happens. What God says, happens.

Paul calls it an “immutable truth” something immutable is something that cannot be changed, no matter what it will take place. He gives us two immutable truths, the Promise, and then an Oath. The very name of God, Jehovah, means just that, The God who makes covenant (a promise) and fulfills it.” Psalm 83:18 King James Version (KJV) “That men may know that thou, whose name alone is Jehovah, art the most high over all the earth.” In the Lords prayer, Jesus taught us, Holy is your name, why, because it is perfect in goodness and righteousness, it is completely trustworthy. If God says it, He will do it. He gives His promises and then swears, gives an oath, that He will do it. That was why Paul taught us to simply have faith in it and trust God will do it.

2 Corinthians 1:20 King James Version (KJV) “For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.” So with may think of it this way, God promises and guarantee’s  it’s completion.

Now go back and re-read that, did you notice the words “in Him” there is the key you need to acquire all the promises of God, stay, in HIm . Acts 17:28 King James Version (KJV) “For in him we live, and move, and have our being;” we must live, in him, to have the God kind of life we may seek after.  Remember the “What would Jesus do” movement, well that is all that movement was about, being “In Him”. Take the time to read all the following scriptues for the promises that are yours:
